emise prostřednictvím atomů, molekul nebo iontů z materiálu při optické radiaci, která nastává při určité vlnové délce nebo v oblasti spektra při stejné teplotě, ovšem vyšší než je teplota záření v důsledku tepelné emise z tohoto materiálu a má za následek, že tyto částice jsou vybuzeny jinou energií než při tepelné agitaci
