European Technical Standards
European Technical Standards are developed within CEN—the European Committee for Standardization—and within CENELEC—the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization. Individual technical fields are addressed by technical committees (TCs), subcommittees (SCs), and working groups (WGs). EU member states are required to incorporate ENs issued by CEN into their national standards within six months, and any existing national standards that conflict with ENs must be repealed.
